Believing in Jesus Christ is about more than just saying you're sorry and getting into heaven.
For 1600 years, the Christian Church has maintained that there are some things about which it just won't budge. While many Christians do not agree on many things, about some things there is just no compromise.

Enter, the Apostles Creed.

This ancient document has unified the Church for centuries, and has enabled millions of people to understand what the Christian faith is all about. Understanding the faith leads to living the faith. It shows us what is true about God and, therefore, what is NOT true about God.

It's a cheat sheet, if you like, of all that we believe, as Christians. It's a map of the Bible.

Does this stuff really matter today? Can't we just love God and get on with it. Perhaps.
But can you imagine me loving my wife without ever getting to know her? Spending time with her? Asking her questions about herself? To truly know her, she has to tell me about herself? This knowledge about her is combined with my experience of her and voila, you have a marriage!

It's the same with God - many people say they love Him, yet they never ask Him to tell them about Himself (through the Bible) - they just think that what they believe about God is enough! I could believe that my wife was a rock-star, but that wouldn't make it true.

We can't just believe anything about God. We need to believe what he reveals to us about Himself.

And that is what the Apostles Creed is all about - a quick "Coles' notes" of what God says having a relationship with Him is all about.

Credo is Latin for "I believe".

Come check out Unashamed Youth on Wednesday nights, and discover if you believe as well.

Unashamed Youth meets at Cornerstone Wesleyan Church on Wednesday nights, 7-9pm.
